Carey's blog

busy, busy...

So... the last couple of weeks have been full and fun. I had a wonderful time with my friend Christy and her girls (who moved far, far away from me :( ), doing lunch together. So good to spend time together, I definitely want to try and make the voyage her way sometime in the future.

We traveled to LA for another business trip with Bob. These are great for us to tag along and take advantage of a cheap, mini "vacation." We went on a whale watching cruise which was really cool and I definitely want to do it again. We spotted one grey whale from afar and tons of dolphins swimming close to the boat. A sea lion followed closely behind the boat for quite a ways enjoying the waves created by the boat. It was really fascinating watching dolphins circle and round up fish as pelicans and seagulls anxiously awaited to dive in and enjoy a well prepared feast!

We also took the boys to The Discovery Science Center which was educational, fun and dinorific! I love science center's like this, so fun and educational and parents can enjoy it and actually learn a few things too!

After LA, we unpacked, washed clothes and repacked for our good friend, Paul's wedding. Absolutely beautiful! The River Mill was the name of the place and it just had so much beauty and character inside and out...with flower gardens, fountains, candles, exposed brick walls... If you've ever watched the Friends episode where Ross is getting married...this place reminded me of that. So cozy and romantic!

So...we wish our friends Paul and Lauren a life together more beautiful than any wedding day could ever be, we love you guys and are so happy you have found love together and we wish you many happy memories together!

We had a great time visiting with friends and making new ones while in Tracy for the wedding! Colson and Madison just pick up where they left off and have a blast!

man cold

ok ladies... can I get a witness?! the reality of this is just too much. my hubby has a "man cold" right now. however,  it just doesn't seem quite as funny in my living room!  the boys and I have had a cold for a week now...have you heard us moaning, groaning, whining...? not quite. we carry on with our daily lives and deal with it!

so funny. so true. so enjoyable to watch the Britt's do it so well.

oh well, maybe if I rub the "poor little bunnys" head a little more, he will get well faster.

let me take you to...funky town...

this is too cool! i've had lots of fun with it. check it out at befunky.com

loving creation

happened upon this pic while sorting through the masses...
I just loved the way it felt being close to a dolphin and touching one...something incredible for me. I've always loved animals and been fascinated with marine life as well and loving to swim...I think it really does something for my soul to connect with nature. I really want to swim with a dolphin/s one day. I use to want to ride an Orca also but after seeing some incidents... I think I'll just play it safe with dolphins. I guess I'm kind of waiting until my boys get bigger because Colson says he would like to swim with dolphins also and I know at Discover Cove in Florida you can do a whole family swim with dolphins for like $400 bucks. But I don't know, maybe I should go it alone when I have the opportunity and then later we can always do the family thing? Hmmm...something to think about. :)

grungeboard

LOVE this! This is totally new to me and I think this stuff is going to be incredible to work with in scrapping, art, crafts...

I can't wait to get my hands on it! Check it out.

Weekend

Well, it was an absolutely b-e-a-utiful weekend! We had some fun at the zoo and riding bikes this weekend, enjoying the outdoors.

Here's one of the best pics I took at the zoo.

I am going to learn how to great pics. I really enjoy photography and I'm tired of having tons of mediocre shots! We love taking pics of our boys and I really enjoying trying to get some interesting pics of anything. So, that's one of my goals this year is to learn how to take excellent photos with an slr camera, lighting, iso,... all that jazz. Right now I don't have plans to take it to the biz level but... who knows. I just want to have some really good results if I'm going to be putting effort into something.

So, I'm going to be reading and watching tutorials but if anyone out there would like to pass along some tips or tricks...I WELCOME them with open arms!

Hilarious

Colson and I were watching some dinosaur videos on youtube and some how came up on this video. We could not stop laughing! This cat actually looks a lot like our cat Orca. Enjoy!

Off to a good start.

Well, I'm happy to say I'm Almost finished going through every last closet and cabinet in my house! My house then needs a deep cleaning throughout but it does my mind good just getting rid of "stuff."

So, I'm off to a good start this year with purging, excersizing 4 times already this week, taking more time out to read...things are good.

We got a good report on my Mom's surgery yesterday so we are thrilled with that! On the road to recovery.

We absolutely LOVED visiting with our newest little cousin(feels more like a niece) last night, Analise Ivy. As you can see, she is incredibly adorable with the cutest little face! A Doll!

Sleeping Beauty

I'm a very blessed girl and looking forward to the long weekend with the fam! We are so going to enjoy our nice weather here and not take it for granted!

peace and love

Purging

Well, I am feeling pretty well in this first month of the new year. Since we got home from KY, I've been going through toy boxes, closets, kitchen cabinets...everything and ridding our house of unwanted and unused "stuff." Ya know kitchen dishes and gadgets that I've never used, cheapo toys that are missing parts or are never played with... It's amazing how fast and how much one can accumulate. Because I feel I clean out closets and drawers on a regular basis! But this being a fresh new year (good excuse), I'm not quitting until I have every closet, drawer, container... looked through and revamped! It feels SO GOOD!

The only dilemma is I would really like to have a yard sale and make a little cash but holding onto this stuff in the garage (which is in desperate need of gutting out all the junk) would drive me NUTS! The other option is goodwill. More than likely the latter will happen.

I have a long list of things to get done or accomplish this year and I want to make this a year of ACTION. All of us have things we want to do but getting from the thinking about it, to the doing it sometimes takes planning and figuring out where to start. I don't want to let this year slip away and not have a substantial amount of things crossed off my list.

So, with that said I wish everyone pro-activeness this year in what ever area you desire to focus on in your life. It is extremely gratifying when you set goals, lay out a plan and later can look back at what you accomplished. Fulfilling.

Happy New Year 2009!

Christmas Songs - Colson's versions

Colson is LOVING the whole Christmas scene even more this year and he's quickly developing a love for LOTS of Christmas songs. And you know how you heard songs when you were a kid, sang them for years only to find out when you got older that you've been singing Totally wrong words in the song?

He's actually picking the words and tunes up really well overall but here's a few of his fav's that get a little mixed up...

"Santa Baby, you're the one!" (How Santa Baby and Rubber Ducky got mixed up I'll never know)

"It's getting to be like Christmas..."

"I still want a hula-poo!"

"Frosty the Snowman...with a corncob head..."
